April beauty favourites

I still like beauty y’know…

I feel like I’ve been straying away from sharing my love of beauty products recently so while it may have seemed like I haven’t being buying much in the beauty department, that hasn’t been the case. Sorry bank balance.

Today I’m sharing my newest beauty finds and there are some good ones here! I’ve done a whole video where I chat about them but for those of you who don’t want to hear me waffle on, I’ll summarise my April Beauty Favourites here.

First up, skincare. I’ve been on the lookout for a really good SPF daytime moisturiser and the Heliocare gel one is hitting the spot. It’s incredibly lightweight and sinks into my skin straight away. I really can’t fault it as a good all round moisturiser for my combination skin and while I can’t report back on the SPF protection yet as we have had had warm weather in the UK, it feels good knowing I’m protecting my skin nonetheless. Credit goes to The Anna Edit for recommending this!

My second skincare favourite are The Ordinary products. A video and blog post will follow shortly where I detail my rather large collection of products by the brand. I’ve been particularly loving the Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% which makes my skin texture feel more refined and seems to be reducing any scarring I’ve had from previous breakouts. Did I mention it’s cheap as chips?

Make up-wise I couldn’t have been more excited to visit the Zoeva stand in Selfridges last month. I knew straight away that I wanted to pick up the Rose Golden Palette and it really didn’t disappoint. It’s the selection of colours I like the most as they stray from my usual cool-toned neutrals and I think these warm hues would look equally lovely on tanned summer skin or against autumnal knitwear.

I was having a bit of a blusher moment in April and picked up two As a bronzer-lover believe me, no one is more surprised by this than me! One is the rose pastel shade from L’Oreal and a pretty bright but surprisingly wearable coral blusher from H&M. You won’t be shocked to hear that I bought another mascara – L’Oreal Voluminous  –  in my defence it’s an old favourite and it was 3 for 2 in Boots…

I picked up two highlighters (I’m blaming my friend Nisha for enabling these purchases), the NYX Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powder in snow rose which gives a subtle pink sheen to wherever you apply it and then the famous Kiko Wet Eyeshadow in 208. I bought a Kiko Fan Brush (no.12) to apply them both and it’s changed the way my highlighter looks. It deposits exactly the right amount where I want it, I couldn’t recommend enough!

Last month was also the month where I focused on looking after my nails. I think I damaged them pretty badly after removing gel nails myself so I’ve been struggling to get them to look healthy again. I’ve been trying a combination of things both internally and externally to help the issue. The Leighton Denny Renovate treatment is an intensive cream that I’ve been using daily on my nails and so far it’s improved how they look and feel. I was also kindly sent two Leighton Denny nail polishes in plush pink and strike a pose which I LOVE. I’ve always thought Leighton Denny shades are more unique than other nail brands. I can do a separate post on the supplements and dietary things I’ve been doing to help my nails so leave a comment below if you’d like that.

I hope this has made up for my quietness on the beauty front. There will be more coming soon I promise! Do tell me what products you’ve been enjoying recently below.
