THE ONE WHERE I PILE IT ALL ON MY FACE
I’ve been slowly building up my collection of new in beauty products to film this video for you. I’m not all that adventurous in the beauty department which you’ll know if you’ve been around here for a while. So don’t expect anything other than my usual natural, slightly bronzed, slightly glowy make up. There is a bit less pink though!
Most of the products I mention are from the drugstore which is great if you’re looking to freshen up your make up kit without breaking the bank. I’m currently writing this post without any make up on, eagerly awaiting an episode of Love Island. Who else is addicted? I’ve felt much more comfortable going without make up recently and I think it’s just a case of growing older and a bit more accepting of the ‘real’ me. I guess it’s only me that really notices the difference between Ella wearing make up and Ella not wearing make up anyway.
NEW IN BEAUTY: A WEEK ON
If you watch the video (and I hope that you do) you’ll see I was a little bit in love with the base products I used. It’s been a week or so since I filmed the video so I thought I’d do a mini update for you here. The Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer has since been returned to my mum and is on my wishlist. It made my make up last SO WELL. I’ve been using the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer daily in place of foundation and am pretty impressed with it. I’d say it’s on par with the Urban Decay Naked Concealer. Big claims I know. The Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation is very good too but I’m a bit scared to use up the sample size I got. I’ll be saving it for special occasions for now.
The Maybelline Master Bronze Palette was an unexpected favourite for me because I bought it on a whim. I actually really love the combination of colours in the palette and the pigmentation is great if you’re a bit addicted to bronzer like I am. You’ll understand why I need bronzer when you see how pale I am at the beginning of the video…
ALL ABOUT THE EYES
I mention my recent venture into eyelash extensions in the video and I’m still loving them. I’ll be getting my infills done this Wednesday so it will be nice to have them all more uniform-looking again! I still like to wear a bit of make up round the eye area for extra definition though so the NYX Slide On Eye Pencil in Golden Bronze has been perfect for this. It really does last all day despite my watery eyes from hayfever/the aggressive air-conditioning at work. Usually my new in beauty posts would involve a mascara so it does feel strange not including one!
I’ve stepped away from the pink-toned lip colours too. I’ve been opting for a more grown up nude, with the L’Oreal Infallible Matte Lip Paint in Off White which everyone has been raving about. I enjoy wearing a thin layer of this over a lip liner, like this Maybelline one, for a long-lasting lip combination. It’s definitely matte but it’s not drying. Believe me I would be the first to say if it was! You know my love for lip balms.
A spritz of my favourite Caudalie Beauty Elixir and I’m good to go! Be warned, you will get weird looks if you spray this in the office…
So what’s new in your beauty stash? Did you like this style of beauty video?
