Marc Jacobs Beauty: My First Impressions
I go in and out of phases with eyeliner. There will be periods of time where my eye make up doesn’t feel done until I’ve applied even the smallest touch of it. Then there are long stretches when I don’t even consider putting it on because I don’t want to look overly made up, or even worse, it to smudge during the day so I have panda eyes.
Recently I’ve been quite into adding just a little bit of liner here and there. So you can imagine my excitement when I received a complimentary duo of the Marc Jacobs Matte Highliner Gel Eye Crayons through Influenster!
These eye crayons have instant colour payoff and are waterproof. At £20 each from John Lewis, they’re definitely the most expensive eyeliners I’ve tried. But boy can you tell from the formula and intense pigment. I’ve worn these through sweaty gym sessions and can confirm they don’t budge one bit. I received 41. Earthquake (a very rich, dark brown) which I use mainly on the underneath of my upper lash line and a tiny bit on the outer corner. Sometimes I’ll smudge a bit on my bottom lashline too because I don’t have to worry about it transferring halfway down my face during a long day at work. The pencil makes it super easy to apply too. You just need to twist the end to reveal more of the crayon, rather than faffing on with pencil sharpeners. I feel like when you wear as much mascara as I do, a bit of eyeliner makes everything look a bit more seamless.
The other shade I received and have been pleasantly surprised by is 57. Deja Blue (love the name) which is a very pale blue. I’ve found if I apply a very small amount in the waterline, it really brightens up my eyes and counteracts any redness from lack of sleep/too many late nights scrolling through Instagram. I’ve always been a fan of eye brightening pencils so it’s nice to have one that really stays put in my collection. When spring rolls around I’ll probably try and do a more graphic eye look with the blue and brown in contrast so stay tuned for that one.
Thank you to Influenster and Marc Jacobs Beauty for selecting me to try these products!
