Cosy nights in are my favourite nights, especially when I have a warm, comforting drink. I'm not a huge fan of tea, coffee or hot chocolate which is pretty limiting so I was really pleased to discover a hot drink that I really enjoy! Golden milk is basically warm milk with tumeric. Tumeric is really good for digestion so this is a great drink to have after dinner. I personally don't like the taste of tumeric in meals but there's something about the subtle flavour of it in this recipe that really works and doesn't make me gag. I've seen various versions of this floating around the internet but I'm going to show you my very simple version of Golden Milk.
You will need:
- Approximately one cup (or one mug) of your chosen milk. I like the Rude Health Almond Milk.
- 1 tsp tumeric or however much you can handle!
- A sprinkling of cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- Honey (optional) I prefer this without honey but I know some people like it
Pour the milk in a saucepan and turn on a gentle heat. Once it starts to warm up, add the cinnamon, tumeric and vanilla essence and mix with a spoon. Wait a few minutes until it's hot and pour into your favourite mug and enjoy!
Let me know if you try this. I made this out of curiosity more than anything else and was pleasantly surprised!
