The effortless way to wear this season's trends

There are two main ways I find out what styles are 'in' for each season. Firstly by physically going into shops and noticing similarities between the different retailers. Secondly, I shop online where I either look at the 'New In' sections on my favourite stores, or I source inspiration from my favourite fashion bloggers such as Josie and Lydia.

As trends come and go, for me, it's not worth spending a huge amount on really quirky items that you'll hardly where. However one of the things I love most about fashion is the chance to be creative and be selective with the trends you include in your wardrobe. Sometimes the rebel in me wants to defy the seasons' must-haves but I usually end up giving in after I spot someone wearing said item in a particular way on Instagram. Please tell me I'm not alone in this!?

We've got a little while yet until spring but I've found myself getting bored of wearing jumpers and boots all the time so I wanted something to inject a bit of life back into my wardrobe. Last weekend I decided to head to Banbury Gateway Shopping Park to see what they had to offer. I went into Primark, River Island, Outfit and M&S and it was clear trends such as graphic print tees and and luxe sportswear are going to be dominating this season. However, the two style influences that most resonated with my personal style were the candy pink tones and metallic clothes and make up.

First up, I picked up some beautiful River Island pink backless loafers which I think go perfectly with my Zara coat which I'm very happy about! Mind you, these aren't for long walks but if I'm just popping out for a bit then I can easily slip these on. I've included some other pretty pink items available in the highstreet below.

CANDY PINK

I was most excited to check out the Primark make up selection after seeing a few other bloggers rave about the quality of the make up. I picked up the Strobing Kit Highlighting Powder Palette which I already love and it was only £4!!

Other items I picked up in Primark are the Pro Lip Scrub, (a must if you want to wear a metallic lip), some rose gold eyelash curlers and the Precious Metals Lip Crayon in 'Good as Gold'. Primark have really embraced the metallic trend and while I'm not brave enough to rock metallic clothes just yet, by opting for some metallic make up and rose gold bracelets from River Island, I've instantly updated my look to be more on trend. One the weather warms up a bit, I'll be a little more adventurous with some of these shiny pieces...

THE METALLICS

!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p, cb; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; cb = new Date().getTime().toString(); p = '//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js?cb=1486413885840?cb=' + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === 'object'){ if(doc.readyState === 'complete'){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, 'script', 'shopsensewidget-script');

Speaking of too many layers, I've been going to the gym a few times a week recently and really enjoyed getting a good sweat on. Lovely imagery aside, I still like to look relatively presentable in the gym and part of that means having some nice gym gear to wear. I'm not at the stage where I can afford the likes of Sweaty Betty but places like Primark and H&M do really fashionable and affordable gym clothes. I picked up a coupe of sports bras; the black geometric print one being my favourite.

Sports luxe to me means clothes that look just as stylish as your normal clothes but with the added benefit you can work out in them. Maybe they're even too nice for the gym! I certainly wouldn't feel uncomfortable walking round after the gym with either of these bras showing underneath a top. I've found some other options if you're looking for activewear inspiration...

So that's me dipping my toes into the latest spring trends. If I'm on a shopping mission, I tend to avoid Oxford as it gets a bit too busy so Banbury Gateway is perfect for me. Plus it's open until 8pm most nights so if like me you dislike shopping at weekends, this could be the perfect option. Just don't hold me accountable for any late night purchases!

What do you think of my outfit? Do you like to stay updated with the latest trends?
