In today's post, I'm going to be sharing how you can change your weight using the Law of Attraction, and whether you want to lose weight or gain weight, I'm going to be sharing with you how I've done it in the past and how you can implement these teachings into your life. The law of attraction is something I'm really passionate about sharing and learning about. I really think it will benefit you if you are feeling a bit restrictive or you tend to binge around food, especially this time of year, where everyone is in full, "oh, it's Christmas. I'm going to eat whatever I want" mindset. I know that if you’re open and willing to take on my advice you’ll be on a journey to loving your body and feeling more at peace with yourself in no time!
I'm going to be sharing the principles that I use personally in my life to maintain a healthy weight all year round. In the past, I was very much in a restrictive mindset when it came to food, and I would binge on foods that weren't good for me. I want to share with you how I have broken through that mindset and come out the other side in the hope that you can as well. So if you want to feel more at peace with your body, and free around food, and just generally happier in day-to-day life, then carry on reading.
The reason that the Law of Attraction is so vital when it comes to weight loss or weight gain is because we live in an energetic universe, we live in a thought created reality. Your thoughts attract the situations and circumstances in your life, so when you think certain thoughts on certain frequency, at a certain vibration the events that take place are a match to where you are at. What comes to you is a reflection of your internal state. That's why it's so important to be aware of what you're thinking in each moment. What you're thinking essentially is brought about in your reality, so it's really crucial if you want to change your physical appearance using the Law of Attraction that you are monitoring your thoughts in a way that is sustainable for you and that you are creating a mental image of yourself that you want to become.
You might notice just looking around day-to-day life that there are so many different types of body shapes, body sizes, ways of eating. There are people that eat vegan diets and there are people that eat only meat and veg. There are so many different ways of eating out there depending on what country you are in. So that’s enough in my opinion to show that it's not all about the food, it's something deeper than that, and it's something energetic, it's not just genetic because there are so many anomalies out there.
The easiest way for me to explain this is that what you believe and feel in your body is what is brought about. So if you believe things like, "I have a really slow metabolism. I can't lose weight. It's really hard for me to lose weight." That is what is going to become your reality because what you believe is what becomes true. The things you are affirming to yourself on a daily basis whether you are aware of it or not, there's probably a mental story there in your head, something that's replaying over and over again. Things like, "I'm not good enough. Why don't I have any self control? Why don't I have any willpower? I can't give up sugar." Or whatever it is. You need to become aware of these limiting beliefs that you have and stop them in their tracks, work through them because these limiting beliefs are stopping you from being the ideal version of yourself.
So notice the stories you're telling yourself, notice your limiting beliefs, and write them down. Journal about them. I like to write my limiting beliefs in a journal when they come up and then work through them, ask myself things like, "Is it true? How can I change it? Why do I think this? Where is it coming from? Who gave me this story? Is it society? Is it your parents? Is it someone else in your life?" Become aware of where these limiting beliefs have stemmed from, and then you can work on changing them, and once you change them, that is a step towards taking action that helps to get you where you want to be.
So right now, take a second to think of your main limiting belief that probably prevents you from changing something in your diet or lifestyle. For example, "I hate exercise." Maybe that's your limiting belief, and it's stopping you from making any movement, making any changes in your life.
It can be simple if you believe it is. A lot of us have a certain amount of momentum going in one direction, so if you are really down a negative spiral and even if you're depressed or you're really far down the rabbit hole and you're just not feeling great at all in your body, then it can be very hard to just jump up, so what you need to do is gradually work your way up the scale. Abraham Hicks calls it the Emotional Scale, so essentially what you need to do is find a thought that feels a bit better than where you are. So if you have a thought like, "I am so ugly. I hate my stomach." For example, going general can really help in this situation, so if you think a thought like, something really simple, something really neutral like, "I have a body." Can be really soothing for your negative emotions. I have a body. You can't really feel good or bad about the situation, it is what it is, so, "I have a body." Just repeating that to yourself over and over again until you feel a bit happier.
It's a gradual process to retraining and reprogramming your mind towards a positive body image. You need to create a new self-image because your self-image, how you see yourself, really determines the actions and the food you eat, how you exercise - if you exercise - if you treat your body with love or respect, that all stems from how you feel about yourself internally. And if you hate yourself, if you are not giving yourself the love and respect that you deserve, then you're not going to do outside external things that help to reaffirm that feeling, if that makes sense.
So pick the self that you want to be. Write down the qualities that the ideal version of you has, how does she behave, how does she act, is she confident? Does she stand tall? Does she wear certain clothes? Does she do her hair and makeup nicely? Just things like that that really affirm to you how you would be in your ideal reality. And once you have clearly identified what you would like to become, the person you would like to be, then do rampages, even in your head, going round your daily business, it's a way of talking yourself into this new version of you.
So you would say things like, "I feel really good in my body today." Even if it's not essentially true to begin with, you work your way up the scale by doing these mental thoughts. Things like, "I feel really good in my body today. I feel flexible. I feel fit. I am loving how calm I'm feeling around food. Food is my friend. Me and food get on really well." Personify the food. It sounds silly, but it really works. "All is well relative to me and food. I love food. Food loves me. It benefits my body. My body knows how to process anything I give it. I bless this food, I love this food. Thank you, food, for nourishing my body." Things like this. Mental chatter that goes on in your head a lot anyway, but you just probably aren't aware of how negative it is, so once you become aware of that and switch it into positive, take a positive spin on it, then that is where the change happens. And at first, it feels like a lot of effort, but once you keep doing it over and over again, then it really helps to cement into your mind and it becomes a normal way of living.
And what you need to remember is that it's your choice to change right now, and all the power you have is in the present moment, it's not starting a diet tomorrow, it's not like, "Next week, I'll do this." You have a choice every moment to choose the loving thoughts about yourself, to choose a fearful thought about yourself, so which one sounds better to you? Give yourself the permission, I'm giving you permission to improve. It's not about changing yourself. I don't want you to think you are a bad person for being where you are because you're not, it's just negative habits and cycles that have gotten you there, and it's a safe familiar feeling when you're in a negative mindset because your brain is used to it and it feels comfortable, even though it's not serving you, you're used to it, so that's why it keeps repeating the cycle and story.
There's nothing wrong with you at all. All you need to do is realise why you are where you are, and then you can start making the change and become a more loving and beautiful version of yourself because that is who you truly are. A big part of the Law of Attraction as well is that what you focus on grows. So the more you focus on things you don't like, the more they are evident in your life. A lot of women, I'm sure you've thought like this. Look in the mirror, and the first thing you see is what you don't like. So you might look at your thighs and think, "Oh, my thighs look so fat. Why won't they shrink? Why can't I change them? I do whatever I can and they still look the same." You need to start shifting your focus onto something that you actually like about yourself. So maybe you like your eyes. Look at your eyes in the mirror first. It's like a mental workout, really, to focus on that area before the usual one that you focus on, but it's going to really benefit you, and when you focus on the things you like about yourself, that is what drives you to make positive choices throughout the day. You might think, "I really like the colour of my eyes. I think they really sparkle. I like how I applied my makeup today." Things like that get you to a positive mindset, they raise your vibration, and then you are likely to not go and binge, or not restrict yourself. You're feeling good in yourself, and then you take good feeling actions.
A few journalling prompts for food and exercise
How am I feeling in my body today?
What would truly satisfy me in this moment? Is it food or is there something else that would make me happy?
How can I love my body more today?
What is one commitment I can make to myself today to improve my relationship to food?
Does (insert name of fad diet or exercise regime) feel like it is aligned with me and my desires?
What type of movement (if any) do I feel like doing today?
What is blocking me from being happy in my own skin?
In what ways am I using food to distract from other areas of my life?
Practical steps towards loving your body more
There's a lot of information here and I hope it's helping you, but I wanted to give you some practical steps as well that you can take so that you know what to do going forward in your daily life and how to really, really change your relationship with yourself, and with food, and with your body. The internal shift, that's important, but you need to also take action in life and that needs to be inspired and from a happy place.
Pick a few affirmations that you really feel soothe you and you really feel called to at the moment. You can change your affirmations regularly, I do. But ones you really feel benefit you in the moment, keep them in the notes section on your phone and read them morning and evening, morning, midday, evening, even once a day would really help. That will start to change your mindset and implement new beliefs into you're mind, and new beliefs are what is going to change your weight.
The second tip I have is to love and bless your food. Now, blessing food and saying prayers before meals isn't really a new thing, it's been going around for generations. It's usually religion-based. However in this context and from a Law of Attraction point of view it's important because when you have loving thoughts towards food, it actually changes the molecular structure of the food itself. It’s scientifically shown that when you think loving thoughts about seemingly ‘inanimate’ objects it actually changes the physical cellular structure of them. So it's really important to be grateful for your food before you eat it, bless it, love it, and affirm that it's going to be doing good things to your body. Even if you're eating a donut. I eat cookies, donuts, that kind of thing all the time, and I have no negative repercussions from them because I choose to believe that they are going to be good for me and I'm going to benefit my body.
Choose love. When you're making choices about food, think to yourself, "Am I eating out of love or am I eating out of fear?" Because if you're eating out of love, then you're going to be feeling good about it, you're going to feel excited, you're going to eat slowly and savour each bite. If you're eating out of fear, you're going to be eating in secret or you're going to be binging on things. You're going to be checking out your body, you're not even going to remember what the food tastes like because you've eaten it so quickly. You aren't satisfied from it in the way you are when you're eating from a loving, nourishing place. So that is a good question to ask before you eat food and before you choose food. Obviously everyone has moments where they eat food that isn't great for them. You can overeat, it's not the end of the world. On a consistent basis though, it's important to check in with yourself and ask the question. And that goes to anything in life, really. Are you taking action from a place of love or a place of fear?
Take inspired action! With the Law of Attraction, sometimes people think, "Oh, if I just think good thoughts, then I don't have to actually do anything. I can just lie in bed all day and get the results that I want." That is not technically true. We need to take action in daily life, but it is inspired action, that you want to focus on. More doesn’t necessarily equal better. You might be inspired to follow a type of diet for a while. Now, if you're dieting from a place of, "I hate my body. I want to change it." And you think, "Hey, I'm going to go and do this celebrity diet." That is not really going to work. That's why diets don't generally work for people. But when you're going about your daily life and you just want to make some more tweaks, and you think, "Okay, I really would like to tone up. It's not the end of the world if I don't, but it would be quite nice." And then you see a different regime on maybe Instagram, or someone says, "Hey, I tried this and it really helped me." And it feels really good to you, maybe your intuition is telling you to give it a go, then do it, and you might find it really works for you and gives you the shift in the direction you want. If it doesn't feel good, if it feels like an uphill struggle, that's usually a sign that you're going against what you're inner guidance is telling you. In this case drop it! Try and pick the actions that align with your core beliefs while you try and work on the limiting ones. Everyone is at a different place in terms of what is believable to them. Going from being restrictive to deciding you can eat whatever you want and not gain weight probably isn’t going to work.
Exercise to move energy. I'm going to suggest that you approach exercise from a way to move energy in your body, to raise your vibration rather than trying to change your physical appearance because when you approach exercise from a kind of pushing type mindset the you're always doing it from a place of not being the way you want to be. Whereas if you're doing it to improve your mood and change your energy then exercise is the biggest, quickest way to shift your energy. If you're in a funk or if you're not feeling good, then going for a long walk in nature, going for a quick jog, whatever it is, that is a good way to move energy around your body. That shift in mindset is really important. It's not simply calories in, calories out, how much you've burned.
Choose higher vibrational foods. Now, it is actually shown that all foods have certain vibrations, certain energy in them, and plant foods in particular have a higher vibrational energy, or whatever you want to call it, and that is why we generally feel so good when we have a healthier diet. Foods such as meat and dairy apparently have quite a low vibration and are slower moving, they take longer to digest in the body, so they're going to leave you feeling a bit more sluggish. Generally processed foods aren't as good for you, you know that I’m sure. That’s why you can feel a bit more tired and not as energetic when you have those foods. It's all about the energy in them and how they are fueling your body. If you want a quick way to improve your weight obviously and your energy levels, then choose a higher vibrational diet, which is full of nourishing and colourful plant foods.
Decide if you are a naturally slim person who eats whatever they want and has a good relationship with food and exercise. You can make that choice. You don't have to keep reaffirming the story that you are in a bad place or you're not in a good place. You choose the new story that you want to tell and then watch how your life unfolds. Make it consistent, make it part of your routine, make it who you are, and then that is who you'll become.
I would love it if you shared this post with someone you think will find it beneficial because especially at this time of year, I feel like everyone is thinking, "Oh, I have to detox for the new year." You can start now. You can start whenever you want. It's your choice. .
