Self-care can take many different forms. You can care for yourself by taking a weekend off seeing friends and doing life admin for some time on the sofa watching Netflix.
You can look after yourself by pushing your body further than you ever have before at a new gym class.
You can order your favourite takeaway and enjoy every bite, with no feelings of guilt whatsoever.
Equally, you could take the time to cook yourself a healthy meal and dance to your favourite song as you're doing it.
You could apply all the make up you have for no reason other than you feel like it.
Or you could not wear a scrap and throw your hair up in one of those pineapple buns everyone loves to hate.
You could tell that person everything that's on your mind and discuss it together in a calm manner.
Or you could cry in private until your mascara has come off and you have no tears left.
No matter what your form of self-care takes, make sure you're giving yourself compassion.
Do what you feel is right and don't listen to what society tells you to be doing with your time.
Until you're a full cup you have nothing valuable to give anyone.
